Device Management
Enroll, monitor, and manage your entire device fleet from a single dashboard.
Device management is the core of Et'al MDM. From enrollment to retirement, you have full visibility and control over every device in your fleet.
Enrollment Methods
Et'al MDM supports multiple enrollment methods depending on your platform and deployment scenario.
QR Code Enrollment
The fastest way to enroll a single device:
- Create an enrollment profile in the dashboard
- Generate a QR code
- Scan with the device camera
- The device installs the management profile and checks in
QR codes can be printed for field deployment or displayed on-screen for walk-up enrollment stations.
Enrollment Link
Share a URL that guides users through self-enrollment:
- Create an enrollment profile
- Copy the enrollment link
- Send to the device user via email, SMS, or chat
- The user opens the link on their device and follows the prompts
Bulk CSV Import
For large fleet deployments, import devices in bulk:
- Download the CSV template from Enrollment > Bulk Import
- Fill in device details — serial number, IMEI, assigned user, device group
- Upload the CSV file
- Devices are pre-registered and activate automatically when they first check in
Zero-Touch Enrollment (Pro+)
Devices enroll automatically out of the box with no manual interaction:
| Program | Platform | How It Works |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung Knox KME | Android (Samsung) | Devices auto-enroll on first boot via Knox Mobile Enrollment |
| Google Zero-Touch | Android | Devices auto-enroll via Google Zero-Touch Enrollment portal |
| Apple Business Manager | iOS | Devices auto-enroll via ABM with DEP profile assignment |
Device Lifecycle
Every device in Et'al MDM follows a defined lifecycle:
pending --> enrolled --> compliant / non_compliant --> unenrolled --> wiped| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Pending | Device is pre-registered but has not checked in yet |
| Enrolled | Device has installed the management profile and is actively managed |
| Compliant | Device meets all assigned policy requirements |
| Non-Compliant | Device violates one or more policy rules |
| Unenrolled | Management profile has been removed; device is no longer managed |
| Wiped | Device has been factory reset via remote command |
Device Inventory
Every enrolled device reports detailed hardware and software information:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| IMEI | International Mobile Equipment Identity (cellular devices) |
| Serial Number | Manufacturer serial number |
| Platform | Android, iOS, ChromeOS, or Windows |
| OS Version | Current operating system version |
| Model | Device model name and number |
| Last Check-In | Timestamp of the most recent device communication |
| Battery Level | Current battery percentage |
| Storage | Total and available storage capacity |
| Assigned User | The user or technician assigned to this device |
Device Groups
Organize devices into logical groups for easier management:
- By team — "Field Techs - East Region", "Warehouse Scanners"
- By platform — "All Android Devices", "iOS Fleet"
- By location — "NYC Office", "Dallas Warehouse"
- By function — "Kiosk Devices", "POS Terminals"
Policies and commands can be applied to entire groups at once, making fleet-wide changes efficient.
GPS Location Tracking (Pro+)
Track the real-time location of enrolled devices:
- Live map view — See all devices on a map with status indicators
- Location history — View where a device has been over time
- Last known location — Available even when the device is offline
Location tracking requires device-side permissions. Android devices must grant location access to the management agent. iOS devices report location during check-in.
Geofencing (Pro+)
Define geographic boundaries and receive alerts when devices enter or leave them:
- Go to Devices > Geofences
- Draw a boundary on the map or enter coordinates
- Set the trigger — Enter, Exit, or Both
- Choose the alert action — notification, webhook, or automatic command (e.g., lock device)
Geofencing is useful for:
- Ensuring devices stay within authorized work areas
- Triggering kiosk mode when a device arrives at a retail location
- Alerting administrators when a device leaves a secure facility
