Enrollment
How does device enrollment work?
Et'al MDM offers several enrollment methods:
- QR code — Generate a QR code from an enrollment profile. The user scans it with the device camera, and the management profile installs automatically.
- Enrollment link — Share a URL via email or SMS. The user opens it on the device and follows the prompts.
- Bulk CSV import — Upload a spreadsheet of device serial numbers and IMEIs. Devices activate automatically on first check-in.
- Zero-touch (Pro+) — Samsung Knox KME, Google Zero-Touch Enrollment, and Apple Business Manager allow devices to enroll automatically out of the box with no user interaction.
See the Device Management guide for full details.
How long does enrollment take?
Most devices complete enrollment in under 60 seconds after scanning the QR code or opening the enrollment link. Zero-touch enrolled devices activate on first boot.
Device Management
What happens when a device is wiped?
A full wipe performs a factory reset:
- All data on the device is erased
- The MDM management profile is removed
- The device returns to its out-of-box state
- The device status in Et'al MDM changes to "wiped"
A selective wipe removes only managed data and profiles while leaving personal data intact (available on BYOD deployments).
What's the default check-in interval?
Devices check in with the MDM server every 15 minutes by default. This interval is configurable per enrollment profile. During check-in, devices receive pending commands and report their current status.
Can I track device location?
Yes, GPS location tracking is available on the Pro and Enterprise tiers. You can view real-time device locations on a map, browse location history, and set up geofences with automated alerts. See Device Management for details.
Deployment & Infrastructure
Can I use my own infrastructure?
Yes. Et'al MDM is designed to be self-hosted. Deploy on your own servers or cloud infrastructure using Docker Compose. You control your data, your network perimeter, and your uptime. We also offer a hosted option for teams that prefer a managed service.
What does self-hosted deployment require?
- A Linux server (Ubuntu 22.04+ recommended) or Docker-capable host
- PostgreSQL database (included via Supabase in the Docker Compose stack)
- A domain name with TLS/SSL certificates
- Outbound access to Apple APNs and Google FCM for push notifications
Is there a hosted option?
Yes. During early access, all accounts start on our hosted infrastructure. Self-hosted deployment documentation will be available before general availability.

Multi-Tenant
How does multi-tenant work?
Each organization (tenant) in Et'al MDM operates in complete isolation:
- Separate device inventory, policies, and user accounts
- Per-tenant audit logs and compliance reports
- Role-based access within each tenant (administrator, manager, field technician, viewer)
- No data leakage between tenants — enforced at the database level with Row Level Security
This makes Et'al MDM suitable for MSPs and resellers managing devices for multiple clients from a single platform.
API & Integrations
Is there an API?
Yes. The REST API is available on the Enterprise tier. It provides programmatic access to devices, policies, commands, and audit data. API documentation is provided with your Enterprise account.
Can I receive alerts in Slack or other tools?
Yes. On the Pro and Enterprise tiers, you can configure webhook alert rules that POST structured JSON to any URL — including Slack incoming webhooks, PagerDuty, ServiceNow, or any custom endpoint. See Fleet Monitoring for details.
